Further details of the soon to be released Elephone Vowney have today been released, the phone will come in two variants. The first of the two new Elephones the Vowney Light will feature a 5.5" 1080P (1920 x 1080) display, MT6795 (Helio X10) CPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM the phone will be running Android 5.1 out of the box. The second Vowney handset is higher end and comes with a 5.5" 2K(2560 x 1440) display, MT6795 (Helio X10) CPU, 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM it will also be running Android 5.1 out of the box.
The USB port appears to be a standard micro USB rather than a C-type USB, whilst its not cutting edge it will suffice. The phone is said to come with a 21 mega-pixel Sony IMX230 rear shooter and as can be seen in the images below a 2 tone flash is present.gold elephone Vowney rear. The rear camera is slightly raised from the back of the lightly textured rear cover.
Something that will probably make some people unhappy is the black bands around the screen bezels, they are a lot smaller than on previous Elephone handsets and to be honest don’t really cause any problems in use.
Looking at the front of the Elephone Vowney we can see what looks to be a Halo style home button, on a previously released hands on video, the controls were on screen, perhaps this is switchable between standard capacitive and onscreen? it would be a shame to have all that real estate on the screen taken up with something that could fit on the phones chin.
Style wise the phone is a good looking thing, I would probably not choose to go for something as bright as the gold, but as Apple have shown, there is a huge market for it.
