The highly anticipated Dakele Cola3 smartphone was finally released yesterday, at a very small release meeting held in a cafe restaurant in Beijing.

The Dakele Cola3 is known as the first smartphone to sport a sapphire crystal screen, which both the more celebrated Meizu MX4 pro and Apple iPhone 6 had failed to include, Also, the utilization of the aerometal and titanium alloy is also quite creative for a smartphone mainly marketing towards the budget end. However, the design and the other specs of the handset were not as inspiring as expected.

As is shown in the pictures above, the Dakele Cola3 looks almost the same as the iPhone 6, except for the overall footprint.  It measures at 145.3mm*71.5mm*7.25mm and weighs 145g, pretty compact for a 5-inch smartphone. The 1.7GHZ MediaTek octa-core processor in the handset is more often used in recently released entry-level smartphones, and feels awkward to go along with the other cutting-edge features the phone has on board. Fortunately, there is 3GB RAM to handle multi-tasking, and the handset also has a 2,500 mAh removable battery.

The handset runs Kele UI 2.0 on top of Android 4.4 OS out of the box. But Dakele’s developer team has been working with other ROM developers to bring other custom UI to the phone, including the famous MIUI, Color OS, LeWa OS and Yun OS.

The Dakele Cola3 is priced at RMB1,499 ($244), and will be open for pre-orders on JD.com on 9th of December.
